Lambs for Sale

From the Port Kells ranch lands in Surrey, come some of B.C.'s finest lambs. This flock grazes on the best-managed pasture land in the Fraser Valley.

Imagine starting out with GOOD breeding stock from Aveley Corriedales from over 30 years ago, and selecting for good fast growing prize-winning lambs, and now crossing this good producing ewe flock with a new purebred Charollais ram. That's what we offer this year, Charollais cross on old-time Aveley Corridales, beautiful lambs with excellent conformation and all are sets of twins. See below for this year's 100-day weights.

We have many prize ribbons from previous years' carcass class competitions at Surrey Farm Fair and especially at the P.N.E. (Pacific National Exhibition), with competition from BC., Alberta and Oregon. Here are the carcass class results:

• P.N.E. 1987: Entries from B.C. and Oregon, carcass lamb placed 6th out of 14 entries, grade A2 with conformation score of 33 out of 40 points.
• P.N.E. 1989: Entries from B.C. Alberta and Oregon, carcass lamb placed 12th out of 26 entries, grade A1 with conformation score 31 out of 40 points.
• Surrey Farm Fair, years 1985 to 1992:
  • 1985: 3rd place, conformation 32 points
  • 1986: 5th place, grade A1, conformation 31 points
  • 1987: 3rd place, conformation 32 points
  • 1988: 8th place, conformation 30 points
  • 1989: 12th place, conformation 24 points (lamb is too lean!)
  • 1990: 9th place, conformation 24 points
  • 1991: 6th place, conformation 32 points
  • 1992: 8th place, total points 52 (change of grading system)

Sheep for Sale

Two year ewe for sale, 1/2 Charollais, has had single and twin lambs. $300.

3 year-old Purebred Charollais Ram for sale. (I have to mention that this is a Male Sheep for sale, otherwise it gets lost on the internet search engines amongst a zillion entries for RAM = random-access-memory for the computer geeks). I'm asking C$350 or best offer. The C$300 includes registration transfer, for lesser offers, he is "as-is". He is responsible for at least 55 lambs from 16 ewes over two years. Do the math - can YOUR flock do that?

What really sets this ewe flock apart from others is their ability to breed 8 weeks post-partum (this is their idea, they are not forced to breed) thereby typically having a set of twins every seven months. For example, ewe 51 lambed October 1st 2005, and on May 28 2006; ewe cow-spot lambed October 6 2005 and June 2 2006; ewe 56 lambed October 4 2005 and June 2 2006. Can your ewes do this?
